This challenge develops the idea of tiling the plane. Is it possible to tile the plan with a patch? If not, why not? An opportunity to discuss regular and semi-regular tessellations and explore what is necessary to complete a tiling based on a patch, or a modified patch. Is it possible to add some additional squares or triangles to the basic patch to create a tile for the plane?
